Young Epilepsy and Epilepsy Action have teamed-up to launch Izzy and Joe’s Camping Adventure, a beautifully illustrated storybook designed specifically for children aged 4 to 8 who are living with epilepsy. This book is the result of a unique collaboration shaped by the voices and experiences of children and families affected by epilepsy.
A story that reflects real lives
This book was created to help children feel seen, understood and supported. It’s a gentle, engaging story that includes epilepsy as part of everyday life without making it the central theme. Whether read at bedtime, in the classroom, or independently, Izzy and Joe’s Camping Adventure offers comfort, confidence and connection.

Built on insight, co-created with families
The standout insight from our development process was clear: children with epilepsy want stories that reflect their lives, but don’t define them by their condition. That’s why Izzy and Joe were created as relatable, adventurous characters who show that children with epilepsy can often enjoy the same activities as their friends.
