Epilepsy Diagnostics

The Young Epilepsy Diagnostic Suite is home to EEG tests including diagnostic EEG, routine EEG and home video-telemetry EEG. We offer outpatient EEG test diagnostics for children and young people up to the age of 25.

Unlike other clinical settings, one of the key advantages of our diagnostic suite is its location and special aesthetic design providing a calm, friendly and person-centred environment helping young people and their families to settle with ease before an EEG test begins.

Our unique setting, and friendly team of staff, helps reduce anxieties sometimes associated with more traditional medical centres and thereby increases the likelihood of good data collection during your child’s EEG test.

What we offer – Types of EEG test

We provide EEG test and home video-telemetry diagnostic services to the NHS, typically through service level agreements (SLAs) and other organisations.

We are pleased to accept private referrals for fee-paying patients, which must come via a Paediatric Consultant. The price is dependent on the type of EEG test service required. Please note: we do not accept those funded by private health insurance.

The diagnostic EEG service offers routine awake, sleep (sleep-deprived with melatonin) and long-term EEG monitoring. Our waiting list meets NHS diagnostic guidelines (within 6 weeks of referral) and following appointments, reports are sent electronically to the referring consultants, commonly within 3 working days.

Specifically, we provide:

  • Routine awake EEG
  • Routine sleep-deprived EEG (melatonin/sleep-deprived)
  • Home-video EEG telemetry: one to four nights
