It was absolutely terrifying. I was too scared to put her down.

When epilepsy changes everything, will you be there?

One minute Sally was waiting for six-month-old Ada to crawl. Then she was waiting for the next seizure and wondering if she was going to have to give lifesaving CPR.

When a child is diagnosed with epilepsy, life changes in an instant.

Overnight, ordinary moments become frightening. Seizures are unpredictable. Nothing feels safe.

Families are given life-changing news, then sent home without the support they need.

Please pledge today and we'll contact you when the time comes to make your donation once matched funding opens. You can also donate today if you'd prefer not to wait.

Ada's story

“Following diagnosis, we were told these are your appointments and that was it.

It was absolutely terrifying when we first found out. I struggled a lot. Ada was just six months old. I felt like I couldn't even put her down in her cot so I could go to the toilet because I was too scared that something was going to happen.

And there was no real help. There was no advice.”

No parent should hear life-changing news and be left to cope alone

Every day, families like Ada's receive life-changing news and are sent home with more questions than answers.

Imagine leaving hospital feeling nobody understands your fears or can tell you what happens next.

Too often, the support families need simply isn't there.

This Christmas, you can help families feel less alone.

"When Ada had her first seizure, she was rushed to hospital because it wouldn't stop. Ada has been resuscitated three times because she stops breathing during her seizures. It's horrific to watch."

What happens when support is available?

When families find Young Epilepsy, they find answers, reassurance and a community that understands. Most importantly, they discover they are not facing epilepsy alone.

"We weren't given much information and were told to look into it ourselves. That's when we turned to Young Epilepsy."

Demand for our services is growing and you can help more people access the support they need when they need it most.

Watch how epilepsy changed life for Ada and her family, and why support matters so much when families are left to face epilepsy alone.

This Christmas, you can help change what happens next.

“Epilepsy affects Ada’s life every single day. We went through two years of trialling different medications but her epilepsy is drug resistant. So something works for a couple of months and then it doesn't anymore.

We’ve been scared every time it happens. It’s crazy - you think you won’t be scared anymore because you see it so often. But every time you see it, it’s just as scary as the first time.”

Somewhere this Christmas, another family will hear the words: "Your child has epilepsy." By pledging your support today, you'll help make sure they have somewhere to turn when they need it most.

No family should have to face epilepsy alone.
