Becks from TOWIE Raises Awareness for Epilepsy

Becks Shines a Light on Epilepsy in TOWIE

In last night’s episode of The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), viewers witnessed a moving and poignant moment as cast member Becks courageously shared her personal journey with epilepsy on national television.

During an open and sincere conversation with her fellow cast members, Becks explained, “Obviously you know that I’ve got epilepsy. So, I basically work with this charity called Young Epilepsy,” before inviting them to a fundraising ball. She underlined her dedication to supporting those affected by the condition and is raising much-needed awareness.

Living with Myoclonic Epilepsy

Becks spoke openly about her own diagnosis.

In 2022, I had my first seizure. I was at home, I completely blacked out, unconscious, on the floor. I don’t remember nothing.

The epilepsy I’ve got is called Myoclonic epilepsy, where you have sudden jerks and they last for two seconds.

Diagnosed at the age of 28, Becks has now been seizure free for two years. She is now using her platform to challenge misconceptions, break down stigma, and encourage open dialogue about epilepsy.

Positive Response and Growing Support

The reaction from both the TOWIE cast and viewers has been overwhelmingly supportive. Becks’ honesty and bravery have been widely praised, with a wave of encouragement flooding social media. Young Epilepsy socials have seen an increase in followers, inspired by Becks’ story and the greater visibility she’s brought to the condition.

Upcoming Charity Event

Tonight’s TOWIE series finale will feature Becks hosting a charity ball in aid of Young Epilepsy. The event is set to raise vital funds and awareness, bringing together Young Epilepsy staff and Youth Voice members to support Becks and engage with the wider community.

A Message of Pride and Advocacy

We are immensely proud to be collaborating with Becks and deeply appreciative of her commitment to making a positive impact. Her story serves as an important reminder that epilepsy can affect anyone, and that every voice is crucial in challenging stigma.

Be sure to tune in to the TOWIE series finale, airing tonight at 22:00 on ITV2 and ITVX, to witness Becks’ inspiring advocacy in action.
