Why 23,000 miles? The impact behind the challenge

Every day in the UK, 23 children and young people are diagnosed with epilepsy — nearly one every hour.

Behind that number are real young people, real families, and real fear. Seizures can be frightening, unpredictable and isolating

By taking part, your business helps ensure that no young person has to face epilepsy alone

“Young Epilepsy gave me a platform to talk about my experiences — so we don’t have to fight this alone.”

  • 112K

children and young people in the UK have epilepsy, with 23 new cases diagnosed every day.

  • 1 in 3

children and young people with epilepsy do not receive the support they need to to take part fully in school or daily life.

  • 60%+

children eventually grow out of their epilepsy, but early years shape confidence, education and future employment.

  • 1 in 200

children and young people have epilepsy - a higher prevalence than many long-term conditions, including diabetes (1 in 500).
