The Young Epilepsy Research Retreat, led by The Prince of Wales’s Chair of Childhood Epilepsy, is a highlight of our year, providing a unique opportunity for researchers, collaborators and clinicians across our network to come together, share ideas, and reflect on the progress we’re making to improve the lives of children and young people with epilepsy.

In 2024, we were delighted to host our 14th retreat, welcoming nearly 100 attendees over two days. The programme featured 28 fantastic presentations covering a wide range of topics across our research portfolio, including updates from major projects like Turning Six and the OPM-MEG study.

Each presentation sparked thoughtful discussion, giving presenters the chance to receive feedback and insights from peers and senior researchers working across different fields. The event was chaired by Professor Helen Cross, with guest moderator Professor Stéphane Auvin, a leading expert in childhood epilepsy from Robert Debré University Hospital and Université de Paris, helping to guide the conversations.

The retreat was a real success, with attendees particularly appreciating the opportunity to network and exchange ideas within this multidisciplinary forum. Feedback from the event highlighted just how important this kind of space is for strengthening partnerships and driving forward impactful research.
