Statement on Prime Minister’s Question time

David Ford, Chief Executive of the Young Epilepsy (Young Epilepsy) said: We are delighted to hear that, at Prime Minister’s Question Time yesterday, David Cameron agreed to meet with Valerie Vaz MP, Professor Helen Cross and representatives of the Joint Epilepsy Council. The Government has an important role to play in highlighting the specific learning issues facing children and young people with epilepsy. Epilepsy and epilepsy medication can seriously affect learning, concentration, memory and behaviour and up to half of the children and young people with epilepsy may be under achieving significantly at school. It is essential that an integrated approach between health and education is implemented to ensure the best outcomes for children with epilepsy at school.’
