Portsmouth Spinnaker Tower to turn purple for Young Epilepsy
Young Epilepsy supporters Wayne and Crystal Canning are turning Spinnaker Tower purple tomorrow, (Wednesday 29 November), to raise awareness of Young Epilepsy.
The purple ‘switch-on’ is to launch their brand new Facebook page: 'Young Epilepsy Portsmouth - Fundraising Team Y.E.P’ in aid of Young Epilepsy. Make sure you give their page a like!
Wayne Cannings, Young Epilepsy supporter said:
We want to send a message out to our son Rory that he's not alone with epilepsy and that through our Portsmouth fundraising group we're going to do all that we can to help support the national charity, Young Epilepsy. They are working hard to remove the stigma and discrimination attached to the condition and we hope our fundraising group will go along way to support them.
Wayne and Crystal have been dedicated supporters, haven already taken part in the Great South Run and a static Car Rally this year. With plans to increase their fundraising efforts in 2017, Wayne is taking part in a static bike ride at supermarket giant Tesco, travelling a gruelling 60 miles, the distance from Portsmouth to our Young Epilepsy campus in Lingfield, Surrey.
Carol Hunt, Regional Fundraiser at Young Epilepsy said:
For Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower to light up purple to raise awareness for Young Epilepsy, is just incredible. Wayne and Crystal have dedicated their lives to educating, fundraising and campaigning after their son was diagnosed with epilepsy and lighting up the tower is such a great statement.
Young Epilepsy cannot thank Wayne and Crystal enough for all their efforts, as with their support, we can continue to tackle epilepsy on behalf of the 112,000 children and young people living with the condition across the UK.
If you live locally and want to support Wayne and Crystal, you are more than welcome to join them at 5pm for the purple ‘switch-on’ or get your binoculars at the ready!
