Philippa Shimmin - Governor

Philippa Shimmins head shotPhilippa is a teacher who has spent most of her career teaching adults, then children with learning difficulties. For the past 16 years she has taught in a school for children with severe learning difficulties and complex needs. Some of the pupils from this school go into higher education at St. Piers College. She has a degree in education and diplomas in special needs and education management. In addition to her teaching, Philippa has been a district councillor and chair of the Teachers Joint Council. She is currently a governor at the Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust, a vice chair of the Leatherhead United Charities and a trustee of the Leatherhead Institute.
