Emergency Medication
Full day: 9am – 5pm
A one-day course for aimed at professionals working with children and young people, as well as parents who may be required to administer emergency medication. It will be suitable for professionals from a wide range of disciplines such as school nurses, teachers, support workers, carers and many more.
This course has been endorsed by Professor Helen Cross, The Prince of Wales’s Chair of Childhood Epilepsy and the Joint Epilepsy Council.
Morning session
- basic facts about epilepsy
- causes of epilepsy; diagnosis
- seizure types
- treatment of epilepsy
- psychosocial issues for people with epilepsy.
Afternoon session
- advantages and disadvantages of each drug
- drug usage
- record keeping
- health and safety
There is also a practical session on the administration of emergency medications and a written assessment.
Afternoon only option: 12.45 – 5pm
The afternoon session is also available to anyone who has previously attended one of our childhood epilepsy study days and would like to learn more about emergency medication for epilepsy. Only available at Young Epilepsy, Lingfield events.
