St Piers College

A specialist environment can make a difference for life

St Piers College is an independent specialist college for young adults aged up to 25 with complex epilepsy and other neurological conditions. At our rural Surrey campus we offer individualised training programmes and a wide range of learning opportunities, with specialist medical support on hand 24 hours a day.

Students can attend on a day or residential basis and benefit from the support of Young Epilepsy's multidisciplinary team. Our teams of lecturers, consultants, registrars, nurses, psychologists, therapists, and support staff work together to give young people with epilepsy the help they need to move towards independent living.

Building independence

Our aim is to help each student to achieve their potential, both educationally and socially. We help them to lead as independent and successful a life as possible, whether they are moving into supported living, work placements or training, or into residential services. We have found that our specialised experience, skills and facilities can make a difference which will help improve their entire lives.

We work with students who have:

Individual support

The college supports a wide range of abilities, and all students require support for their learning. The level of support is individually assessed and as a learner’s confidence increases, support is reduced to enable independent skills to be developed.

As highlighted in our most recent Ofsted report, our multidisciplinary approach makes an excellent contribution to the physical and emotional wellbeing of the learners and to the promotion of independence.

Resources

Our facilities and experience make Young Epilepsy a great choice for students with an accessible 60 acre rural campus and adapted facilities, along with the in-house occupational, speech and physiotherapy teams. The College offers modern learning environments with vocational areas including:

A dedicated educational provision provides sensory focused learning activities to Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) learners to encourage participation, promote choice-making, develop communication skills and encourage exploration.

We offer both day and residential places to students from across the UK and a waking day curriculum where learning takes place in the evenings and weekends, supported by dedicated staff in the residential houses on campus.
